There are a lot of people out of jobs today, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any companies hiring. The companies who are looking for people are struggling, too, because there are way too many people applying for the jobs that they have available - and many of those people aren't even qualified, or they're extremely over-qualified. They just need jobs and so they're going to apply for just about anything and everything that they are even remotely capable of doing so that they can have some money coming in. When you run a business and you're wondering how to find your future employees, that can be really frustrating for you. There are some things that you can do, though, to help find the right people. First, target who you're looking for and post the job opening on Internet sites or in publications that those people are more likely to see. Make the requirements clear, and make it clear that you won't be interested in hearing from people who don't meet ALL of those requirements. There's nothing wrong with saying this nicely but firmly.
Some people who don't qualify will still apply, but there will be fewer of these people that you'll have to deal with. That's a great thing when you don't have a lot of time and are looking for someone to quickly fill a position. You might also be able to find new employees through networking with others in similar jobs and professions. That way, when you need a new employee you don't have to necessarily put out an advertisement for one. You can just let your friends and colleagues know what you're looking for and they can recommend people for you to contact - or have those people contact you. It's a much better way to find people because you aren't weeding through so many applications. If it doesn't work out you can always put out an advertisement, but finding someone through word of mouth can be a great success, depending on the profession. It can also be a quicker, easier, less stressful process than it would be to sort through and interview dozens of people who responded to an employment ad.
