Authorities are examining whether medications at Michael Jackson's home could have played a role in his death and want to talk to the doctor who cared for the pop star Thursday before paramedics arrived, according to sources.

Detectives spent hours at Jackson's Holmby Hills home after his death. Law enforcement sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because it was an ongoing investigation, said the doctor was at the house on Thursday and they'd like to ask him some questions.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation said detectives last night found "no smoking guns" at the house that might easily point to a cause of the death. The source said prescription drugs were found there, but it's unclear which ones Jackson might have been taking or whether they in any way contributed to his death.

The source said police are awaiting the results of an autopsy, which is occurring this morning, and toxicology results, which could take weeks. The source also said investigators have not ruled out the possibility that Jackson's cardiac arrest was the result of natural causes.

A Los Angeles Fire Department source told The Times that Jackson was in full cardiac arrest Thursday when rescue units arrived on scene. The unidentified doctor was in the house performing CPR on him, said the source, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told The Times he could not discuss details of Jackson's condition but said the four paramedics who arrived at his home found that the pop star was not breathing.

It was a very serious situation when we arrived," Ruda said. [The paramedics] knew who they were working on. They performed the highest level of care, as they would whether a celebrity or anyone else."
