The creativity grew as users began to add plexiglass in the side panels so they could create a view inside of the computer case. It was popular to install cold cathodes in different colors as lighting inside. As time went by, the creativity and imagination of case modders grew largely as they found other ways to give their cases an unique appearance.nnThe most simple but cool mod is replacing the dim LED's with super bright LED's. nThe bright blue ones are often the choice among case modders.nOther mods could be painting the case, adding a plexiglass side panel or custom fan grills. A more difficult mod would be taking off the metal cover from a harddisc and replacing it with plexiglass. This way one could monitor the harrdisc while operating. All of this led to another level of customized cases, for example modded household objects and plexiglass cases all with a computer inside . The creativity had no limits and it was easy to find guides how to do the variety of mods. The growing community on the internet all shared their ideas and modifications. Even manufactures of different hardware products like motherboards, graphic cards and sound cards followed with this growing trend. So we began to see PCB's in different colors which the modders could choose between to match a users case mod theme. For example, having red lighting through the plexiglass together with a red motherboard could create special visuals. We also could mount devices on the cases DVD/CD drive panel which would show the temperature of the different components, like the CPU, graphic card and memory, some even included potentiometers to adjust the speed of the cooling fans. There was held competitions where one could win modded cases. Case mod products became purchasable everywhere in computer shops where you could purchase products like bright LED's, glowing power supplies, Cold cathode lamps, anodized heat sinks, fans with built-in LED's and many other creations.nnStill the popularity of case modding is not as great as it has been. Most of today's cases are to some degree premodded available in various colors and generally have a more pleasing look compared to the old beige cases. Its common that people would rather purchase a modded case than creating own mods. Most of the time have things like plexiglass side panels with inside lighting and Blue LED's. We also see these Blue LED's on other hardware such as TV's and satellite receivers.nCase modding can be lots of work but it will always remain a way to show a user's creativity in an artistic way.
