Remember when need of a cylinder head for your 1990 Eagle Talon meant leaving your baby in the shop waiting for the part to arrive? Those days are history!

Thanks to the internet and marvels of search engines like Google, the world of replacement car parts is literally at your fingertips. With the entry of three words, ‘used car parts’, in 0.28 seconds 276,000,000 results appeared. After selecting a business, in forty-five seconds I had found my cylinder head, learned it not only carried a three year warranty, but came with free shipping. Not bad for less than ninety seconds on the computer.

But the wonders don’t stop there. I’m very computer literate and don’t mind making major purchases online. However, for many shoppers, this may not be the case. Do not be discouraged, my part-seeking friends. Most of the sites I perused had 800 numbers to call a representative directly and many offered online chat.

I found the payment options a breeze, with the majority of the sites I looked into accepting all major credit cards and many of them using PayPal.

I recommend seeking out dealers with guarantees. With the ease of using the search engine, if you don’t find that the site you are on carries guarantees, just back out and head to another site. This is truly shopping at its most convenient.

Speaking of convenience, some of the sites were actually parts locators, such as Car-Part.com. This site locates the part near your home, quotes the price, and gives you the name of the dealer with the phone number.

Your car may be a classic, but there’s nothing antiquated about finding parts these days. It couldn’t be easier or more convenient. So hit the on-ramp to cyberspace and you’ll be back behind the wheel in no time!
