Motorbikes are one of the most convenient, economical and popular modes of transportation. They can weave in and out of traffic congestion smoothly. Moreover, they do not need a huge parking space; a small space will do. Different types of motorbikes are marketed worldwide to suit all tastes. Many people prefer to buy a motorbike because it is more affordable compared to cars and other big vehicles. It can be our partner in our daily activities whether it is a trip to the local market, running errands across the town or a road trip. Riding a motorbike can be a lot of fun but at the same time dangerous. But the sad part is that the younger generation thinks more of fun than safety factors.
A motorbike can also be used as a sports vehicle. For this, one has to choose a specialised kind of bike. In order to participate in a motorbike competition, a person must have proper motorbike riding apparel which includes motorbike boots, a good helmet, mesh safety jackets, padded pants and accessories like goggles and hearing protection. There is a need for safety awareness. One should not be negligent while riding. He should focus on the road and avoid showing off. Helmet is a must for all motorbike riders. Without helmet, many people die at the accident spot or on their way to hospital. If a person is wearing a helmet at the time of accident, he stands a higher chance of survival. Helmet protects the head from any kind of injury due to accident. Motorbike boots can save the driver from injuries to his feet especially when the road is rocky, muddy or slippery. Many other pieces of gear are also needed to ensure motorbike safety -- motorcycle insurance is required by law in the UK and many other countries.
A motorbike safety course should be taken to know about safety procedures as well as every part of one’s motorbike and maintenance and emergency repairs one may need while out on a ride. A motorbike rider should be able to foresee possible accidents and know how to avoid them. Acquiring good quality safety products can add a degree of assurance and confidence to the rider. Listening to experts can give a sense of motivation and inspiration. Joining a community of motorbike riders can also help in gaining knowledge about the best riding safety equipment. When setting off on a long tour on a motorbike, one should make sure that their bike is in the best possible condition. He should have his motorbike serviced; otherwise the whole holiday may be taken up in repairs. While on tour, he should respect the traffic laws and speed limits. Thus one can enjoy the benefits of motorbike riding for a longer time by following the safety procedures.
