Motorbike racing is a sport that popularised the so called superbikes so much that they are now sold in the city car price range. Some people wouldn't even agree that racing vehicles is a sport, but for motorbike racing, that is definitely not true. Motorbike racing is more than just a sport, it is an art of taming the savage heard of horses beneath you and the several hundred pounds heavy beast's weight corner after corner, pushing your performance to the boundaries of physically possible. Tyre constructors take care of the grip, body constructors use aerodynamics to reduce drag and use the massive airflow to increase stability of cornering, and engine constructors constantly push the precision and possibilities of their engines, allowing for speed and acceleration which were unthought of only a few years ago. Superbikes are a reflection of the entire civilisation's technological breakthroughs. Somewhat like the F1 formula car. But, unlike a formula car, or a WRC rally car, almost everyone can afford a decent superbike. So, why isn't everyone riding one? It is not so easy to do so, and, many people believe, it is too dangerous and deadly. Even with wearing the helmet and protective gear, and having the best bike insurance money can buy, it will depend solely upon you and your style of driving and delivering responsibility in your driving decisions as to what will happen to you, and will you be safe.
At great, unlawful speeds, regular mistakes regular drivers make are too much for the superbike to handle, even when others make them. Especially when others make them. So, if you want to be riding on the apex of our civilisation's thought process, you should work hard to make yourself up to it by being a responsible driver. It is not true that noone appreciates it. Your family does, and your insurance company will too. Just imagine a smaller incident, in which your brakes partially malfunction and you scratch some expensive limousine in an attempt to save your life and stop yourself. Who is going to pay for the damage should you not have proper insurance? And who will look out for your interest in the brakes not being properly checked during your regular service? Will they even dare dream away at the sight of your superbike and not do the right job when they see your insurance policy? Insurance is a good thing, because any thing that makes you add safety to your driving is.
